Question:	Are homeowner associations regulated by any state agency?
Answer:	No. There is no state agency that has oversight responsibility specifically for homeowner associations. The Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney Generals office may consider complaints involving misappropriation of funds. In addition, the Real Estate Commission may investigate complaints related to financial issues involving community managers that have a Broker's License. The North Carolina Real Estate Commission has also published Questions and Answers on Residential Subdivisions and Planned Communities and Questions and Answers on Condos and Townhouses.
